Cisco people analytics

How to Build Traction from your People Analytics

How Cisco is combining internal and external datasets to solve critical Business problems and help HR build its credibility as a strategic partner.

Ian will talk about how Cisco is using People Analytics to help employees, managers, HR and senior leaders make informed decisions using data on a daily basis. Ian will talk about the journey that Cisco is on to ensure that all employees have the right data at their fingertips to help with decisions they need to make at work. This could be as simple as an employee finding a training course or as impactful as a senior leader deciding where to open a new Cisco office. Cisco's approach to people analytics is to ensure that HR data is embedded in decisions made by everyone at the company, not just HR.

The Context

Cisco is transforming and the importance of attracting and retaining talent and new skills is more critical than ever. As the company looks to understand what talent it needs today and in the future, people analytics plays a critical part in ensuring that it can find, attract, develop and retain the best employees to drive its competitive advantage.

The Project

We are using new HR tools and technology, traditional dashboards, internal data, external data and advanced analytics to put the right insights into the right hands at the right time to help make any people decisions at Cisco. Employees are able to find customised recommendations on how to develop, Managers can make better decisions on who to hire and where to find talent and senior leaders have a better idea of performance and engagement across their organisations. All of these insights come from an approach to ensure that data is behind all people decisions at Cisco.

What You Will Learn

Data is at the heart of all people related decisions at Cisco, but this has been achieved with simple analysis and dashboards as well as more complex analytics and advanced HR technology.

Learn how to achieve these same things without an army of data scientists, just a mindset and framework to find a critical business problem and the right data to help find a solution.
